The space industry is on the verge of a major transformation: Following the planned decommissioning of the International Space Station (ISS), low Earth orbit will increasingly be shaped by private space stations, reusable rockets, and declining transportation costs. Highly complex basic research is giving rise to a new arena of application and economic activity for research, innovation, and production. Dübendorf is positioning itself in this transformation as the European hub of the New Space Economy—and is demonstrating the opportunities that space will offer Switzerland in the future.
