Following the water cycle through the forest

Mehr

Join us for a walk through the forest, just a few minutes from the Hönggerberg campus. Together, we will follow a raindrop on its journey through the forest: from the canopy, along tree trunks and across the forest floor, into a stream or back into the atmosphere.

Along the way, you will learn about the important role forests play in the water cycle and how they store, transport and release water. Using modern measurement techniques, researchers can trace the often hidden pathways of water and gain valuable insights into the water balance of forest ecosystems.

We will also explore the impacts of climate change. How do forests respond to longer periods of drought or heavy rainfall? And what are the consequences for ecosystems, water resources and the climate? Look forward to fascinating insights into current environmental research and discover the forest from a new perspective.
